We believe support should never be one-size-fits-all. We work closely with individuals—along with their families and caregivers—to create custom support plans that reflect their needs and preferences. This tailored approach allows us to achieve life-changing outcomes, even in the most complex situations. When someone lacks a support system, our dedicated team is there to step in as advocates.
We know that social and historical experiences can shape the kind of support people need. All our staff receive specialized training to work effectively and respectfully with people of different cultures.
Our Indigenous Cultural Liaisons foster cultural connections and create meaningful opportunities for those we serve. They also lead Indigenous awareness training for our staff across Canada, providing guidance that continually enhances Taproot’s programs and service delivery.
Taproot uses a trauma-informed approach to empower people to work towards a brighter future. By honouring past experiences, we help individuals and families heal from loss and grief and grow their self-esteem and confidence. As a B Corp, CARF, CET and CAC-accredited organization, Taproot delivers the highest standard in trauma-informed care.
Our Support Model guides our daily work. It ensures everyone in our care feels safe, connected, and understood.
This model is grounded in the CARE (Children And Residential Experience) principles and research from Cornell University.
We meet individuals where they are, building on their strengths to foster independence, confidence, and resilience. Through personalized care, we equip them with the skills needed to thrive, both in their personal and professional lives.
